This class is a process-based exploration of space. Through a series of guided exercises, we examine new approaches to investing in an existing space, disrupting and redistributing spatial energy, and creating movement patterns in space informed by the implementation of narrative.

Kelly Bartnik is a NY-based choreographer, performer, director, teacher and producer. She was an original cast member of both the Boston and NY productions of Sleep No More, originating the role of Bald Witch. She recently performed in the Immersive experiences Waking La Llorona and Portaleza, by Optika Moderna and The Unbrunch, created by Cinereal Productions. She also was Movement Director for Optika Moderna’s latest project, Las Quinceañeras. Kelly premiered her most recent evening-length commission at Gibney Dance entitled - Fuck / Love: The Poetics of Adoration. With an MFA in Choreography and Visual Arts, Kelly has taught at Colby College, Queens College, Playwright’s Horizons Theater School, Emory University, Spelman College and has supervised immersive performance trainings at Meow Wolf, Santa Fe.
