I am a choreographer, director, and somatic educator whose work bridges dance, theater, and embodiment. I teach and lecture internationally on creative process and the Laban/Bartenieff System.

Podcasts have become an extension of my teaching and creative work—spaces where I can explore the questions at the heart of choreography, somatics, and artistic pedagogy in conversation with others. These dialogues invite a wider audience into the process: what it means to create from the body, to navigate the tensions between rigor and play, and to reimagine feedback and purpose in the studio.

These are some of the themes I’m most often invited to speak on. Each conversation can be tailored for artistic, educational, or personal growth audiences:

  • Embodiment as Creative Compass – How somatic awareness (listening to breath, weight, tension) can guide artistic decision-making in dance and theater.

  • Reframing the Inner Critic – Transforming self-judgment into curiosity and creative agency, for both performers and teachers.

  • Feedback Without Harm – Building rehearsal and classroom cultures that nurture growth without manipulation or abuse.

  • Beyond Productivity – Challenging capitalist metrics of “success” in the arts and cultivating sustainable, presence-driven practice.

  • Laban/Bartenieff for Everyone – Applying movement analysis tools beyond choreography: in directing, leadership, even daily life.

  • Creative Cycles – Balancing rigor and play, instinct and analysis, throughout a project’s evolution.

I love joining thoughtful conversations on creativity, embodiment, and the artistic life. If you host a podcast and think my work could resonate with your audience, please reach out:

Alexandra was a wonderful guest
to have on the KeyBARD podcast.
We had a broad conversation
about her personal story
as an artist, some key projects, her
book, and her creative process,
among many other things.
She’s immensely creative,
thoughtful, culturally competent,
and articulate.
Great guest!
